Class of 2020 Personal Memoir: Liam
Liam, Class of 2020
Liam

I never thought coming to the Stanley Clark School would give me so many unique opportunities, both academically and socially. SCS has helped me discover things I love that I didn’t realize I cared about before. Even if it’s not necessarily one of the major subjects, SCS helps you find something you love. For me, it was the discovery of my love for drawing and art.

At the start of fifth grade, I didn't think much about drawing or painting as an interest of mine. Art class wasn't my top choice at the time, but it quickly became my favorite. Mrs. Loyd, our art teacher here at Clark, got my attention by working on 3D shapes in class. I tried to copy her and got the hang of it pretty quickly. I started to impress people with a skill that I didn't even know I had. Mrs. Loyd helped me recognize this newfound skill that soon became a favorite hobby of mine. I started drawing in and out of class, night and day. I now also have a passion for coloring and painting. Before falling in love with painting and drawing, I would do it only for school projects. But then I started doing it for fun and set my goal on the art award here at SCS. I worked harder each day in class, and eventually, I did end up getting the art award. I was ecstatic, and to this day, I still love to draw.

Coming to Clark is an opportunity everyone needs to take if it becomes an option for them. Athletics, education and social opportunities all abound here at SCS. The school has wonderful teachers, including Mrs. Loyd, who I described above, that help you out when you need it most, and they don't overwhelm you. They help you find your true passion and who you really are as a person, and for this, I am ever thankful I have been given the opportunity to be part of the Stanley Clark School community.
